"Hello Foxton!! We are so excited for the opening tomorrow and can’t wait to see you here" say Karyn and Veronique Read.
They are the new owners of the Robert Harris Franchised Cafe, the first in the Horowhenua region, which is located on the corner of Johnstone Street and State Highway 1 in Foxton.
Both have lived in Foxton for over 20 years and used to work at a small cafe together named 'The Laughing Fox' when it was a café on the main highway, which closed down over 10 years ago.
An early morning fire badly damaged the landmark building in February 2018. At that time it was known as The Laughing Fox Chinese Takeaway. The large villa on State Highway 1, was well known for its tall ornate turret that was often lit up at night.
Since that time working together, they have both dreamed of running their own café.
"We both enjoy the delicious taste of Robert Harris coffee, in fact you could catch us driving up to Palmy most weekends, just for a tasty breakfast and a cuppa".
"We wanted to bring this amazing cafe into our own town for all our locals to enjoy too. It has been a long process but we are finally here, and we are so eager to open our doors and see all our friendly locals coming in"
Whaea Ani, blessed the new building on Wednesday 28th November, before the offical the ribbon cutting with staff.
Robert Harris Café provides a set menu, along with cabinet food and of course great coffee and Foxton Fizz!
The offical opening date is Friday 1st December and opening hours are 7 days from 7am.
